One of delicious dishes, Karasumi, usually appears every New Year in East Asia.

  • Introduction

Karasumi is a kind of tangible assets for human, not merely a speciality in Taiwan but one of fusion cuisines in the subtropical area. Researcher Max Zheng (鄭明昌) produces them in his life; he has the practical know-how for delicate, beautiful and amazing Karasumi. His products are so exquisite that many foreigners prefer to buy his products rather than the others. Recently he thought of packaging design to make purchasers’ decision and Karasumi could be an example of glocalisation as far as we are concerned.

Reversed Engineering

The so-called copy is to reverse the manufacture of goods or services from completion to components, usually for the rationalisation of plagiarism. It would be relatively easy for those firms without any ideas about product innovation. This may be harmful to product developers. The reversed engineering might happen to the process of Karasumi. News reports in Taiwan reveal too much core technology, so producers do not provide information in detail. Most of them decide to keep their business secrets as long as they can, Mr Zheng noted disappointedly.

Entrepreneurship

Several factors are related to entrepreneurship: Passion, collaboration, innovation, learning, etc. These are the characteristics which people would like to experience various ways of life, explore the new world and even exploit what they could invent. As a proverb goes, ‘Invention is the mother of necessity.’ There would be an opportunity for business where there is a service gap. People need to connect with traditional, mechanical and management industries. Take 3D printing industry as an example: customers might not have known how to explain exactly what they want, while manufacturers would have tried to make something that could make things easily just in time; then the 3D printer would have introduced nowadays. However, being an entrepreneur is really challenging to a certain degree. That might not be a piece of cake, especially for those in panic toward the uncertain future.

  • Conclusion

All roads lead to Rome and all work could be the cream; everything is possible and any jobs could be successful. That is why we learnt from Researcher Zheng. He has already dedicated his whole life to cultural and creative industry, made great efforts to improve the produce as well as attracted globally. The interdisciplinary product innovation will be a current trend to the future as he mentioned. That is because ‘it takes all sorts to make the world.’
